Matt Chandler (Explicit Gospel), Josh Patterson and Eric Geiger (Simple Church) just released their new book with Southern Baptist publisher B&H called Creature of the Word (view promo video here).

The book looks at the scripture-based beauty of a church that makes everything they do about Jesus and outlines practical steps that church leaders can take to help form a gospel-centered ministry.

On Tuesday, October 23rd, Chandler, Geiger and Patterson will host a three-hour interactive simulcast about the book. They will each teach on a different topic from Creature of the Word and then answer viewer questions at the end.

To help spread the word, I will be giving away three copies of the new book, each that come with an individual simulcast registration to watch the on the 23rd.

We’re making sure that gatherings have time for people to come to repentance and pray with folks in the back or front of our sanctuary. It’s been fruitful!

Though we’re not members, the church we’ve been attending makes many efforts to minister to the community. At every school function (the school in this particular community is also the place where the church currently meets), people from the church are there serving and helping with various tasks. They also take many opportunities to minister to the faculty and staff of the school. Those are the most obvious things–many more go on I’m not readily aware of.

My Pastors continual and diligent studying of the Scriptures throughout the week, to present the gospel on the Lords day and Wednesday prayer meeting services. Secondly Continual “Praying without ceasing”…both the Pastors and the Church body in The Lords direction and the blessing of the Holy Spirit, that the word of God would be preached in truth and Totally Biblical (no matter what). Also being a great witness in outward fruit and verbal fruit with, boldness and humility together from all of the believers in Christ. We also have a website for people to hear our services online, yet encouraging them to be with us physically whenever possible….and “speaking for myself”, Facebook…..I, at this moment in my walk with the Lord,.not being”legalistic” , yet what I chose to do and have been doing, given the ability, only by Jesus Christs guidance and my love to do, given my current life situation, trials and suffering in the Lord!

I am a Youth Pastor and have only been at my church since april. We as a church have taken a step back and assessed our ministries and what we are doing as a church that is Kingdom building. We have started this year long process called the ICMP (Intentional Church Multiplication Process) and it has opened our eyes to the focus of our church. We have realized that we have focused more on Organizational ministry than relational. We have started a new Sunday School Curriculum that is a 3 year process from ‘Answers in Genesis’ and have geared all of our leadership to think more about the building and growing of His Kingdom and less about our church having the coolest events and biggest place in town. We have tried to ask ourselves as we are planning for future events, Is Jesus going to be seen and proclaimed clearly at this event. We have done this and are trying to implement this tought process from the pre-school ministry to the senior citizens. Our desire is for Jesus to be the most important thing in everything we do. I know ours and many other churches out there are falling short of this focus a lot of times.
    Thanks
