Calvin Miller, Southern Baptist pastor, author and speaker, suddenly passed away on Sunday. Miller had been ill only a few days before passing. Ed Stetzer has a great tribute posted on his blog. The tribute states: Continue Reading…

Dr. Jason Hiles, Christian Studies professor at Louisiana College and the Associate Dean for Biblical and Theological Studies at the Louisiana College Caskey School of Divinity, recently wrote an article for the Louisiana Baptist Convention’s Baptist Message titled, Reflections on Summertime Missions and Salvation.

In the article, Hiles gives a biblical foundation for why we as Christians do missions and how God’s active work in salvation is achieved through the means of those sent to proclaim the glorious gospel of Christ.

Last month, Dr. Stephen Wellum of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary gave an address to faculty and students on the doctrine of limited atonement (particular redemption) and how “a consistent Baptist ecclesiology is best defended by the embrace of a definite view of the atonement.”

Wellum does a superb job defending the doctrine in light of Christ as High Priest and why Baptist ecclesiology and its regenerate church membership should lead to an affirmation of particular redemption.

If you are on the fence about the doctrine, or outright hate it, you should definitely listen to the lecture. You can stream or download the .mp3 here.

Updated: I found corresponding handouts for each lecture and linked them below.

I am taking an Ezra-Nehemiah exegesis class this semester and one of our textbooks is V. Philips Long’s Art of Biblical History. Long is currently Professor of Old Testament at Regent College but formerly taught at Covenant Theological Seminary (CTS) for 15 years. CTS has several of Long’s lectures on their iTunesU account, two of which are on the subject of Long’s Art of Biblical History. They are well worth the listen.
