Frank Page, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, and Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s flagship seminary, recently discussed current SBC issues at Southern Seminary’s chapel.
The discussion was enjoyable with Page and Mohler talking somewhat pointedly about various issues in the SBC. I find it disappointing that Mohler had to correct Page’s misuse of the term “hyper-Calvinists” as Page used the term to refer to Southern Baptist Calvinists who have an exclusive view of their theology in regards to SBC theological diversity. The misuse of theological terms such as “hyper-Calvinism” among SBC leaders and professors is still ongoing and reflects poorly on our efforts to listen to each other and learn from each other.
